In our newest podcast, Diane Arnaout, M.D., explains the importance of finding a pediatrician sooner rather than later. Dr. Arnaout also gives advice on how to find the doctor that’s right for you:
The most important thing you should look for is to see if you click with that person. If you feel like you are rushed or your doctor doesn’t take time to answer your questions that’s probably not the right person for you. It’s very important that you ask your pediatrician if they keep up to date with the latest in pediatric advances. Some pediatricians have been doing this for quite a long time. We all get different training but it’s really important to make sure your staying up to date.
I think it’s really important to feel as comfortable as possible with your pediatrician. If you don’t feel like you can be yourself or you don’t feel like you can ask questions if your child is in danger or sick, you may not feel comfortable at that time asking questions either. Keep looking for someone you can easily communicate with. Make sure you find someone you can click with.
